Keystone resort in Colorado is the latest resort to start lifts turning after a super start to season 2011/2012. Recent snowfalls, combined with the prospect of more snow later this weekend and into next week has locals “giddy” with excitement.

With the gondola opening today, the resort kicked things off in style with top to bottom skiing and boarding to scratch the itch of snow enthusiasts.

The gondola started turning at 9am today, with a ceremony marking the contribution of the latee Max and Edna Decrum who founded Keystone. The twitter hashtag of #DercumDay could be followed to mark the occasion as well as the day was named Dercum Day in their honor.

The already brilliant Epic Mix also made another debut this season with Epic Photo. A service that links your Epic pass to a photographic service on the mountain. Although it is still early days, reports so far have been positive about the initiative and will no doubt make holiday making families very happy indeed.
