Aspen was the destination as we took the drive from Breckenridge and included a detour via Leadville. Perfect sunshine and warm temperatures were the order of the day for the trip and Aspen really is a must see destination in Colorado.<\/p>\n
Although we didn’t spot any real celebrities, I can assure you the search was on for Mary Swanson (it’s a joke from the movie “Dumb and Dumber” if you don’t get it).<\/p>\n
If for nothing else, the opportunity to have “Dumb and Dumber” movie lines roll off the tongue was worth the time behind the wheel.<\/p>\n
The drive itself along the I70 was simply amazing. Trekking through the canyons along a modern marvel that is the I70 is spectacular.<\/p>\n
Moving onto the snow conditions, freeze \/ thaw is again in affect, so be aware of icy and slick patches on piste and crusty sections off piste. Having said that, fresh snow is on the way for pretty much all of Colorado. 1-4 inches each day until Sunday is what the forecast is calling for, although more is possible in some areas depending on where this storm stalls. We don’t expect super heavy periods of snow, however there could be a descent accumulation of the white stuff by Sunday. For Lake Tahoe, get ready for more powder as a storm should drop more snow measurable in feet over the coming days.
