Ski Resort Conditions and Weather Forecasts

Vail Time Lapse

Rather than post a snow report today, we can tell you that conditions are exactly the same as we have promised. Great weather, light winds and a light freeze thaw on the snow.

This time lapse shows Vail Valley over the period of two hours (which was as long as the battery lasted on the GoPro 3 Black) on January 20th 2013.

The forecast is a little more interesting now with all models indicating a shift coming in the weather patterns. At this stage, they all look in agreement that snow is coming mid week for the west and this pattern shifting towards the Rockies. Tahoe is uncertain at this stage as to the amount of moisture, though I have heard some optimistic forecasts of up to two feet next weekend. We’ll stay on the conservative side at the moment though.

Moving to Colorado, we are expecting at least a few inches from Thursday through the weekend, though the big story is that we may be talking a much better total in the forecast this time next week. As you are well aware though, that is way too far off to get excited about, so let’s continue to love this sunshine and warm temperatures.

We’ll see you on the mountain.

Enjoyed this? Here’s some other stuff we think you’ll find is awesome too!
