Variable conditions were the order of the day at Whitefish Mountain Resort today with everything from fresh snow up high, to wet stuff down low.

As I sit here in the town of Whitefish preparing the snow report, I can see sunshine outside and that pretty much completes the full array of weather for today in the area.

It’s never good to wake up to rain and that’s what happened down here in town. Unfortunately, the warmer weather is persisting and although there is some moisture around, it isn’t quite converting to snow at lower levels.

On the mountain, it was most definitely snow up high and you can see in today’s report that there are still a lot of trees covered in snow and we managed to find some great turns among the trees in protected areas, especially off the back of Chair One.

So a real mixed bag here. Some fun turns if you knew where to look, or some crusty turns down at the base if you were not so lucky. The groomers on the mountain were quick to mention this morning that these conditions are very difficult to work with because there is just no consistency with the snow. Having said that, I was sure to sample their work today and you can rest assured they are doing a superb job right across the resort.

For the forecast, cross your fingers as some more moisture crosses the area tonight into tomorrow and if we finally get a dip in temperatures, we could possibly see new snow right down to the village.
