Despite warmer than usual temperatures for this time of year, the snow is in exceptional shape at Whitefish Mountain Resort in Montana.

Warmer air has brought with it a little moisture in the past few days and despite some wet stuff falling at low altitude, it’s a very different story up higher. The snow particularly on the back side is in incredible shape with some great skiing among the trees and equally some good fun to be had on piste as well.

What is truly crazy about Whitefish is that incredibly, there are so few people here. We found fresh tracks in plain sight of one of the major runs at the resort for our very last run of the day today. Needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise.

Looking ahead, there’s some snow in the forecast for the weekend and the storm is looking more and more interesting each time I look at the forecasting models. But let’s not get too excited yet.

Meanwhile, as we have left Tahoe for this trip, there is of course snow on the way. How much? 2 feet is more than likely at most resorts in the Tahoe area in the next 36 hours and it should be very tasty indeed.

For now, we’ll enjoy turns up here in Montana and keep our fingers crossed we can sneak a cheeky powder day before this trip ends.

Enjoyed this? Here’s some other stuff we think you’ll find is awesome too!
