Tahoe Snow Report – 19th March 2012

Today’s report comes from the wonderful Kate at her home away from home in Truckee, California.

Although we are already thinking of warm weather and spring skiing, this most recent storm to cross California dropped up to 100 inches of snow.

Truckee California received good snow recently

Truckee California is white again!

Reports from the resorts in the area were impressive to say the least, with Heavenly reporting 59 inches (almost 5 feet or 1.5m) with a very big 4 feet overnight at one point. Northstar scored a total of over 70 inches from the system, whilst Kirkwood received a crazy 109 inches (9 feet or over 2.5m) in total. That’s a lot of snow!

Needless to say, there is not much time to report as more time is required for skiing! I hope you were able to enjoy what will no doubt go down as the best storm of the season.

Also note, that Heavenly and Northstar have both been able to open additional terrain as a result of this season which accesses areas previously untouched due to a decidedly slow season snowfall wise.

The forecast is for continuing sunshine and warmer temperatures.

Enjoyed this? Here’s some other stuff we think you’ll find is awesome too!
