Ridiculous Snowfall Breaks Records at Steamboat

Before we give you the details on this crazy snowfall received at Steamboat Resort over the last few days, let’s reflect with what I think is possibly the BEST snowboarding powder video I’ve EVER seen from an amateur film maker. Yes, it’s a big call, but this video is just SICK!

Was I lying? No. Just incredible.

When news first came in that Steamboat had received 27 inches in a 24 hour period, I was a little skeptical at the numbers. Having had these numbers confirmed by several sources a few hours later, I became a believer. Seeing this video above was the icing on the cake.

This snowfall figure breaks a 46 year old mark set in 1966 when they received 26 inches in a 24 hour onslaught that left townspeople buried and scratching their heads. The head scratching continued following this storm as well.

Steamboat chairlift under record snow

And it didn’t stop there. Reports kept coming that the snow was still falling and 7 inches of additional had fallen a few short hours after this 5am measurement was taken.

For those out on the hill, this obviously meant a day that will go down in history and if the video above is anything to go by, it will go down in our memories as well.

The best part about this story is that it makes the dry December and January that plagued all resorts across Colorado a distant memory. We like stories like this!

If you are heading to Steamboat Resort, the news is pretty good for the next few days as well, with some forecasters calling for up to another foot tonight and an additional foot the following day. Maybe they just have snow stuck in their goggles, though if they are even half accurate, things are looking good!

Bottom line, if you didn’t get out and enjoy the record breaking conditions yesterday, then pack your stuff on the plane or in the car RIGHT NOW and get your ass slopeside in Steamboat so you can send us a video like the one above.

Enjoyed this? Here’s some other stuff we think you’ll find is awesome too!
