Epic Snowfall and Record Powder Day at Vail

Almost 30 inches in just over 30 hours at Vail, Colorado and the snow is still falling! This is a very rare experience indeed.

With epic deep powder conditions today at Vail, the weather has acted perfectly to deliver record snowfall.

The line at the base of Gondola One and chair 5 as seen in the video was crazy this morning, though the uphill capacity ensured the crowd was up the hill before too long. Once on the hill, the crown dispersed and the crowds were not disappointed!

Once all lifts including Blue Sky Basin were open, lift lines were no longer than 3-5 minutes for the rest of the day.

The back bowls were simply amazing, with the snow to your thighs if you stood still. A steeper pitch was the order of the day to keep enough speed to enjoy the turns.

We also spent quite a bit of time in the trees on Blue Sky Basin and it was hard to find any people at all once you got into the trees themselves.

This was a day we will never forget and tomorrow is shaping up to be awesome as well. Snow fell for most of the day and it was still falling after the lifts had closed.

Get in early tomorrow because I’d bet crowds are going to be even busier once news of the record snowfall reaches Denver.

We hope you enjoy the video of what can only be described as one of our most amazing days on the snow.

Enjoyed this? Here’s some other stuff we think you’ll find is awesome too!
