Colorado Breckenridge Snow Report 24th February 2011

An almost surprisingly fantastic day at Breckenridge today with powder and fresh tracks up high and in the trees with more snow due over the coming days. We were glad we took the fat skis out today!

Just a dusting in town this morning, though all the new snow had melted off the houses, cars and roads by mid morning as the temperatures approached above freezing. This is why we say surprising, as up high, it was almost like several inches of snow had topped up the cover. Combined with the wind freshening tracks, there was plenty to go around with deep stashes to be had almost everywhere.

The trees are still also protecting the cover quite well, with some deep turns to be had for the brave through the tighter tree lines.

On the groomers, there are still the slick sections to be aware of, though if you stick to the edges of runs, you will always get better turns.

Snow is here and although it is snowing only lightly, the snow is expected to last right through to Sunday with a total of anywhere from a few inches to possibly up to a foot and a half, but don’t get too excited until it is on the ground. In Tahoe, get the yard stick out again, because it is going to come in thick and fast falling at cold temperatures to ensure some epic powder days coming.

Enjoyed this? Here’s some other stuff we think you’ll find is awesome too!
