Breckenridge Snow Report Colorado 28th February 2011

Wind, Sun, Powder, Wind, Sun. Breckenridge Colorado brought a bag full of everything today. About an inch of snow fell in town overnight, though the resort reported 4 inches at their weather station this morning. Either way, there was definitely some fresh snow to be had this morning, all be it, wind blown.

The winds started out strong and ended even stronger. Luckily, you could sneak in a few turns up high before the wind closed all the alpine lifts at the resort. Although this seems like bad news, there was enough great snow elsewhere on the resort to keep riders amused and the wind will ensure wind blown stashes just about everywhere tomorrow.

The real story of the day though was the sun. Sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine kept temperatures well above freezing and smiles on everyone’s faces. It was a day that you could feel Spring in the air and the warmth in your bones.

Temperatures are set to stay above freezing for a few days, so be careful of that dreaded freeze / thaw, though there is fresh snow coming Thursday. How much? Enough to freshen tracks for sure. The big picture though has the prospect of BIG snow later in the weekend and this IS a storm we are watching closely.

Enjoyed this? Here’s some other stuff we think you’ll find is awesome too!
