Another sunny and warm day today gives way to a good snow storm this weekend.
The sun was in its element today at Beaver Creek and surrounding resorts of Colorado as warm temperatures a few degrees above freezing accompanied the recent fresh snow on the ground.
Late this afternoon though, the cloud began to roll in and we are expecting a significant weather system to pass through in waves from tonight through Monday at least. At this stage, the most stingy forecast has predicted 6 inches from this storm, though the NOAA is advising that 10 to 20 inches can be expected with greater totals in the higher areas and also larger local totals possible.
I’d love to say I am convinced by the NOAA, though the truth is that I would expect up to 12 inches of snow in this storm and would be very happy with those totals.
With the snow that fell this week, there is already a nice soft base for the new snow to fall on, which means no bad underlying crust if the snow falls light and dry.
