Meet Rodney Thorn

Rodney Thorn, aka “Papa T from DC” is the elder statesman of the Snow Report TV group of reporters.

With decades of skiing experience, Papa T learned how to ski in the New England area of the United States of America.

Without giving away his age, his skiing evolution began using wooden skis with bear trap bindings. There certainly were no high speed quad chairs on the beginner slopes back then, just rope tows where you had to be careful not to rip your arm off!

Papa T has since been fortunate enough to ski around the world, including time in Europe and in both the East and West of North America. As he suggests, when he first discovered skiing in Colorado and Utah, it was love at first sight. Rodney explains that the powder in the Rockies is the greatest he has ever skied.

You can expect to see Papa T from DC filing reports from around the United States, though primarily at his favorite resorts in Colorado. You can more often than not find him skiing his number one destination, Breckenridge.
